Music has always been the way I make sense of the world.
I'm a composer and violinist from Michigan — I also perform French horn and trumpet — and my work is shaped by memory, literature, and psychology. I'm drawn to music that makes emotional logic visible: pieces that move with purpose, ask questions rather than answer them, and leave space for listeners to find something of themselves inside. Compositionally I work in the orchestral tradition, drawn in particular to the structural clarity of Ravel and the emotional weight of Shostakovich, writing for chamber ensembles, concert band, and orchestra alike.
Performance has always fed my composition. Playing in orchestras and bands — including in a leadership role with the Blue Lake Camerata — keeps my writing grounded in what music physically feels like to play. My work has been recognized by MPulse and the Bach International Music Competition.
Beyond the score, I'm developing a story titled "Pavane for a Living Girl", a narrative project exploring craftsmanship and personal history, and I'm at work on a long-form novel. I'm interested in craft, clarity, and the long arc of creative development — and always working toward the next piece.
